Rose of Picardy
Rose of Picardy, sweetbriar has been sculpted for over 150 years on a sideboard manufactured in the Somme at Vignacourt. The designation of this piece of furniture is called " Vignacourt's sideboard." There are several models with different floral ornaments according to the origin of the manufacturing in the region. The rose above is the initial model of the sculpted rose on this sideboard.
This carved rose was made for the official opening of the House of Australians of Vignacourt attended by the Australian Minister of Veterans Affairs, Mr. Snowdon, the Australian Ambassador to France Mr. Wells, and several Australian and French citizens, in April 2012. This blue mark on this support is a real trace left by the bomb explosion during the war.
